With all the Religions, Denominations, and Doctrines in our world it's hard to grasp onto the truth about who God is and what our purpose is for being here upon this Earth in this day... With so many choices on what to believe how can we make certain that our believe system will not fail us some time in the future.
Today's organized Religions are so filled with traditions and doctrines that have been passed down over the centuries. It is like a grocery store with the shelves full of choices (2000 years worth of choices) and we can walk back and forth from one religion or doctrine to another and pick and choose what we want to believe. We can go from one denomination to another and gather a little and then back track to where we were carrying our goodies with us as we go.
According to Wikipedia there are an estimated 38,000 Denominations in the world today that claim the name of Christian - 12,000 in the United States alone. Each Denomination interprets the scriptures and come up with the various flavors of Christianity today. The path between religions and doctrines are wide open and we are free to build our own version of believe system and call it the truth. My friend let God speak to you one on one through His word and not second hand through someone else regardless of how honorable and trust worthy you feel that they are...
God is perfect - Man is imperfect... Here are some personal examples of Religion: I was never comfortable with the Trinity Doctrine - the "Three Person - Great Mystery" thing just didn't work for me even before I studied God's word for myself. I have Catholic and Protestant friends who firmly believe that if I don't believe the Trinity doctrine - I can't be saved... The word Trinity isn't mentioned in the bible one time. Thought up by the Latin/Greek theologian Tertullian born in circa 150 AD, embraced by the Council of Nicea in 325 and established by the early Catholic Church.
I have Pentecostal friends who firmly believe that if I am not baptised in the Holy Ghost and speak in tongues - I can't be saved... I have family who are Seventh Day Adventist and without hesitation they tell me that if I say "I Love Jesus" and don't worship on the Sabbath "I'm a Liar" and the truth is not in me... I'm sure glad God knows my heart... A Jehovah Witness friend says he's a Christian but says Jesus is not God - only created by God. Most all Christian religions are drawn from the same source "none" of them are the source. The bible is the source and you can go directly to it without Religion.
When God truly speaks to you one on one the religious path that you have been walking on is cut off at your heals and you simply cannot go back to and believe the teachings of man because the truth will change you from the inside out and man made doctrine will no longer work for you. The grocery store shelves where you have been shopping will be filled with a stench of doctrines made by man instead of a personal relationship with God and you will find yourself needing more... That is when God can move in your life.
Take all the man made opinions and doctrines - You know the ones that you have been taught all your life - and set them aside mentally... Don't worry you can always reach back and pick them back up, but if you don't set them aside and let God speak to you one on one you will only be reading God's word through the doctrines and teachings that you now follow... "Religion is man made" - "Man is imperfect" therefore all Religion is imperfect and corrupt - some more than others - but all Religion is corrupt to some degree... Don't limit God by looking at Him through human eyes...
When you follow Doctrines it's easy to look at God through the human minds-eye, and include our limitations and human frailties to how we see Him, but when you grasp the knowledge of who God really is you can see that Gods way's are not our ways. God is not limited by time or space as we are. God's word (the Bible) is true from cover to cover, but the bible is not all that God is... The Bible was inspired by God - written by man - for man... The Bible is just the smallest fraction a "Taste" if you will of the wonderful wonders, mysteries, and knowledge of God...
Pick up Gods word (The Bible) and ask God (Jesus) to speak to you without limitations and allow Him to expand your mind past those doctrines and teachings that keep Him in a box. Pray and ask God to speak to you one on one. Once you know the truth about who God is you won't want to trade His truth for a doctrine made by man. Jesus is the Truth and the Truth will set you free... There is simply none like Him - no not one... Jesus is what you need in your life - follow Him...
